Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Comes Up Short

After flying high against Atmore Christian on Monday, Gulf Pointe Latin came back down to earth. The Gladiators took a blow against the Jones Christian Academy Warrior on Tuesday, falling 79-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Gladiators have suffered since February 4th.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Pointe Latin lost, don't look at Jacob Scarberry. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyler Aikins, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Gulf Pointe Latin's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Jones Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gulf Pointe Latin will square off against rival Central Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jones Christian Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Aletheia Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
