Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Waterford Lancers
The Windham Whippets will head out on the road to square off against the Waterford Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windham is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Windham came up short against East Lyme and fell 59-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Windham has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Windham saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malcolm Hunter, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahj Jones, who scored eight points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Waterford pushed their score all the way to 69 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Fitch by a score of 72-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), Waterford still had to take the loss.
Windham's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Waterford, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Windham came up short against Waterford when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 54-49. Can Windham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
