Football Recap: Norland Comes Up Short

Norland extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-4. They fell 21-14 to the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Archbishop McCarthy, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.3 points on average over those games.

Damien Grant was his usual excellent self, rushing for 83 yards and one TD. Jeremiah Alexandre got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norland will challenge Cocoa at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Plantation at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mavericks 15, the Colonels 12.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
