Softball Recap: West Liberty-Salem Tigers vs. Triad Cardinals

West Liberty-Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Triad Cardinals. West Liberty-Salem was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Triad apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on April 1st.

Brielle Milliron was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Blair, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

On Triad's side, Lilly Greene was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Greene has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive pitching appearances. Greene was also big at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

In other batting news, Morgan Alexander was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple. Riley Haser was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

West Liberty-Salem's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Triad, their record now sits at 2-12.

West Liberty-Salem is on the road again on Friday to play Catholic Central at 5:00 p.m. As for Triad, they will take on Madison Plains at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Madison Plains is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
