Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Salt Fork Storm

Oakwood and Salt Fork are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Oakwood Comets are taking a road trip to face off against the Salt Fork Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oakwood comes in on six and Salt Fork on three.

On Friday, Oakwood needed a bit of extra time to put away Iroquois West. They had just enough and edged the Raiders out 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Comets have posted since February 3, 2024.

Meanwhile, Salt Fork was able to grind out a solid victory over Watseka on Friday, taking the game 43-32.

Salt Fork pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. As for Oakwood, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.

Oakwood came up short against Salt Fork in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 43-39. Can Oakwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
