Baseball Recap: Stockdale's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Stockdale proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Clovis North Broncos 5-4. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Broncos, too.

The team relied heavily on Hayden Elchlepp, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Charlie Ryder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory (which was Stockdale's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Clovis North, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Stockdale and Clovis North should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Stockdale (ranked 173rd) will meet El Diamante (ranked 400th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Stockdale 2, Clovis North 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Clovis North will face off against Bakersfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday up 605 places (180 vs. 785).
