Preview: Mountain Ridge Sentinels vs. Viewmont Vikings
Mountain Ridge has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Viewmont Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 222 points over their last three games.
Even though Salem Hills scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Mountain Ridge still came out on top. Mountain Ridge snuck past Salem Hills with a 74-68 victory. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Mountain Ridge did.
Mountain Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wyatt Sylvester, who scored 21 points along with 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Lindsay, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Viewmont's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Weber by a score of 71-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Their wins bumped Mountain Ridge to 4-2 and Salem Hills to 2-3.
Mountain Ridge strolled past Viewmont when the teams last played back in December of 2020 by a score of 43-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
