Soccer Game Preview: Pigeon Forge vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman

Pigeon Forge is 0-10 against Gatlinburg-Pittman since May of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pigeon Forge can't be too worried about heading out to take on Gatlinburg-Pittman: they just beat Roane County at home, who had been dominant on their own pitch up to that point. The Tigers never let the Yellowjackets get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Pigeon Forge considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Gatlinburg-Pittman came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Indians. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Gatlinburg-Pittman's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Oneida are ranked 234th).

Gatlinburg-Pittman pushed their record up to 13-4-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 43 goals over those six games. As for Pigeon Forge, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-1 record this season.

Pigeon Forge came up short against Gatlinburg-Pittman when the teams last played on Thursday, falling 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
