Softball Game Preview: Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart Gators vs. Maret Frogs

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart hasn't had much luck against Maret recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gators will take on the Frogs at 4:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Georgetown Day, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Gators put the hurt on the Mighty Hoppers with a sharp 16-1 victory on Thursday.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Maret sidestepped Sidwell Friends for a 13-12 win. The victory continues a trend for the Frogs in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Sophia Trendl, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Sterling, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

Trendl wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Maret lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win got Maret back to even at 3-3. As for Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart skirted past Maret 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
