Softball Recap: Columbus International Lions vs. Whetstone Braves

Columbus International had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-7 to make it seven. They lost 15-4 to the Whetstone Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 on April 2nd.

As for Whetstone, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

For Whetstone's part, Jillian Nelson and Avery Bair made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Nelson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bair tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nelson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Nelson got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Bair got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
