Softball Game Preview: Martins Mill Mustangs vs. Hawkins Hawks

The Martins Mill Mustangs will face off against the Hawkins Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Martins Mill has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Martins Mill fell victim to Como-Pickton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 22-0 to the Eagles. The Mustangs' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Hawkins was able to grind out a solid win over Fruitvale on Friday, taking the game 6-2.

Caleigh Frazier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alana Gipson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Cassie Bivens, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Hawkins' victory bumped their record up to 8-25. As for Martins Mill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
