Basketball Recap: Reagan's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Reagan fought the good fight in their overtime match against Johnson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Johnson Jaguars 43-39. The Rattlers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Reagan lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jemitri Wurtz, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Hill, who posted nine points.

Johnson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Brown, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in November of 2023. Ian Rizo was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Reagan's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-6. As for Johnson, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Reagan and Johnson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Reagan (ranked 70th) will meet LEE (ranked 745th) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Johnson (ranked 88th) will meet Madison (ranked 577th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
