Baseball Game Preview: Phillips Exeter Academy Lions vs. Dexter Southfield

The Phillips Exeter Academy Lions will head out on the road to face off against Dexter Southfield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Phillips Exeter Academy came up short against Deerfield Academy on Saturday, falling 16-1. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Dexter Southfield got the win against Phillips Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-2. Dexter Southfield hasn't had any issues with Phillips Academy recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Dexter Southfield got a great performance from Chase Hartsell as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Hartsell has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Patrick Bryan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Grady Tempesta also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Dexter Southfield pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Phillips Exeter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
