Recap: Mayfair Monsoons vs. El Dorado Golden Hawks

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Mayfair Monsoons had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Golden Hawks 31-28. 31 seems to be a good number for Mayfair as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Jeremiah Calvin was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 319 yards and a touchdown while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. Chaz Gilbreath also helped out with an impressive 180 receiving yards.

El Dorado's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nate Bento, who rushed for 169 yards while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and Isaiah Quintero who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns.

Mayfair has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for El Dorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Mayfair will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Miguel at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Mount Miguel sitting on eight straight wins and Mayfair on five. El Dorado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
