Basketball Game Preview: Clovis Wildcats vs. Portales Rams

The Clovis Wildcats will take on the Portales Rams at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Clovis opened the new year with a less-than-successful 75-62 defeat to Santa Fe. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Portales can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 71-40 win over Eunice. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rams had established a 28 point advantage.

Portales' victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Clovis, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Clovis was able to grind out a solid win over Portales in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 60-48. Will Clovis repeat their success, or does Portales have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
