Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. American Fork Cavemen
Kearns has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the American Fork Cavemen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. American Fork took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Kearns, who comes in off a win.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Kearns proved on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 victory over Roy.
Kearns' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Iman Finau, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Mina Kinikini was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, American Fork ended up a good deal behind Davis on Thursday and lost 48-34. While losing is never fun, American Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Davis is ranked second).
Kearns is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for American Fork, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Kearns took a serious blow against American Fork in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 76-25. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kearns was down 38-13.
