Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings vs. Maquoketa Valley Wildcats

The Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings will head out to challenge the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Edgewood-Colesburg has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Maquoketa Valley will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Edgewood-Colesburg came up short against Alburnett and fell 51-39. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Pirates are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Maquoketa Valley against East Buchanan on Tuesday as the squad secured a 63-33 win.

Maquoketa Valley pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Edgewood-Colesburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Things could have been worse for Edgewood-Colesburg, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-28 loss to Maquoketa Valley when the teams last played back in January. Can Edgewood-Colesburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
