Volleyball Recap: St. Xavier's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

St. Xavier had already won eight in a row and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They didn't even let the DuPont Manual Crimsons on the board, marking their second-straight 3-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-6, 25-12.

Leading St. Xavier to victory were Josh Walsh and Brendan Edelen. Walsh had 12 assists and three aces, while Edelen had nine digs and one assist. Those nine digs gave Edelen a new career-high. Briley Codey also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: St. Xavier was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive games.

St. Xavier's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for DuPont Manual, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

St. Xavier will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Oldham at 5:30 p.m. on April 8. DuPont Manual has already played their next match (against Seneca), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
