Basketball Recap: Selma Takes a Loss

Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 75-59 fall against the Kingsburg Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 926th, while the Vikings are ranked 433rd).

Jensen Hirschkorn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Kingsburg, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 21 rebounds. Hirschkorn is becoming a predictor of Kingsburg's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 12-5 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Cornett, who posted 15 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Kingsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Selma does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kingsburg, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-65 victory against Independence on the 15th.
