Basketball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Molly Walter and Jaidyn Saucedo

If Ironwood Ridge was riding high fresh off their 66-38 takedown of Rio Rico last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks lost 65-39 to the Eastmark Firebirds on Tuesday.

Ironwood Ridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaidyn Saucedo, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 16 points and six assists, and Molly Walter, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett Barton, who posted no points along with six boards and three steals.

Anna LaFountain had a dynamite game for Eastmark, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 18 rebounds. Isabella Jackson was another key player, putting up 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Ironwood Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Eastmark, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Ironwood Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-46 loss against Montwood on the 5th. As for Eastmark, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-23 win against West Point on the 5th.
