DAYTON, Ore. -
Dayton (Ore.) extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 54-20 victory over Willamina (Ore.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Forrest Garcia in the second quarter, the Pirates led 22-8 at the half.
Dayton expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. DHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Nathan Bernards.
The Pirates' most effective player was Garcia. The senior wide receiver ran for three touchdowns.
Trevor Hunt played well for the Bulldogs. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 10 on the year.
Willamina came in allowing just 14.8 points per game this season.
Dayton also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 42-14.
The loss snapped WHS's 2-game winning streak.
In its next matchup DHS (10-0) will take on Willamina in a playoff game. The Bulldogs will bring a record of 7-3 into the meeting.
