Fisher Catholic is a perfect 4-0 against Bishop Rosecrans since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Irish will be playing at home against the Bishops at 5:15 p.m. Fisher Catholic will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Monday, Fisher Catholic earned a 9-5 win over Grove City Christian.
Lauren Kersell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Brue, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Kline, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bishop Rosecrans got the win against Harvest Prep on Tuesday by a conclusive 20-3. With that victory, the Bishops brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.
Emily Jenkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Jenkins was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ellie Worden was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Kerry Thompson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Fisher Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fisher Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Bishop Rosecrans struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fisher Catholic took their victory against Bishop Rosecrans in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-9 score. Will the Irish repeat their success, or do the Bishops have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
