Basketball Recap: Living Word Lutheran Wins Going Away Against St. Francis

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sheboygan Area Lutheran, Living Word Lutheran was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 70-55 victory over the St. Francis Mariners. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Timberwolves also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Easton Oliver was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eric Britton, who went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Living Word Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

St. Francis lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josh Green, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamiel Cruz, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Living Word Lutheran's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for St. Francis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Living Word Lutheran will face off against Racine Saint Catherine?s/Racine Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Racine Saint Catherine?s/Racine Lutheran's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for St. Francis, they will take on Cudahy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
