Baseball Recap: Pioneer Pioneers vs. Dexter Dreadnaughts
Pioneer extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 16-16 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Dexter Dreadnaughts. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Dreadnaughts this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-3 loss on Thursday.
As for Dexter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.
For Dexter's part, Jack Sayler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sayler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Clayton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
