Recap: Buena Vista Bison vs. Millard West Wildcats
This season hasn't been kind to the Buena Vista Bison, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They took a serious blow against Millard West on Friday, falling 79-33. Buena Vista was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-21.
Ben Harris and Eli Smith certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Harris scored 12 points, while Smith scored four points along with five rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Buena Vista struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Millard West pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Carter LaBorde was the offensive standout of the game as he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Fortune, who scored 11 points.
Buena Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Millard West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Buena Vista is on the road again on Saturday and play against Burke at 8:30 a.m. on December 30th. Burke is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Millard West and Gretna will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at. One thing working in Gretna's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
