            Baseball Recap: Newton Local Indians vs. Covington Buccs        
        
		
        
        
            Newton Local was the  10-0 winner over Covington when they last played one another  back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians fell just short of the Buccs by a score of  7-6 on Friday. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Buccs since  on Friday.
Newton Local's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 12-5. As for Covington, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record  this season.
 Newton Local will challenge Tri-County North at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.1  runs per game this season. As for Covington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ansonia  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.6  runs per game on average), something the Buccs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
