Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Fort Calhoun

Fort Calhoun had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-51 W against the North Bend Central Tigers. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layne Ruzicka, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Ruzicka's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Cash Hanis, who posted 15 points.

Fort Calhoun's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for North Bend Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-11.
