Softball Game Preview: Tupelo Golden Wave vs. Hernando Tigers

For the second straight game, Tupelo will face off against Hernando. The Golden Wave will face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tupelo has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Hernando will arrive with seven straight victories.

Tupelo heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Hernando, falling 7-1.

For Hernando's part, Kate Johnson looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Johnson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Macie Dever Boaz was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Olivia Higginbotham, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Hernando's win bumped their record up to 28-1. As for Tupelo, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
