Basketball Recap: Wasatch Takes a Loss

Wasatch was the 75-65 winner over Maple Mountain when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wasatch Wasps took a hard 66-50 fall against the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles on Tuesday.

Elijah Liddiard was nothing short of spectacular for Maple Mountain: he went 6 of 8 to rack up 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, Liddiard now owns an excellent 45.7% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Jackson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds.

Wasatch has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Maple Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 9-13.

Looking ahead, Wasatch will square off against Spanish Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wasatch is facing Spanish Fork at the right time seeing as Spanish Fork is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Maple Mountain, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Golden Eagles duke it out with the Thunderbirds at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Maple Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
