Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Lakeside Lions

The Roosevelt Roughriders and the Lakeside Lions will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season.

On Wednesday, Roosevelt was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Garfield.

Despite the loss, Roosevelt had strong showings from Ellery Burke-Brown, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds, and Emma Curtis, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. The match was Burke-Brown's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giselle Dollar, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Lakeside came up short against Eastside Catholic on Wednesday and fell 50-37. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Roosevelt's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Lakeside, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.

Roosevelt barely slipped by Lakeside in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 53-52. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakeside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
