It was a proper cat-fight when Miller Place duked it out with Shoreham-Wading River on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 9-2 victory. Considering the Panthers have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Zicchinelli made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Breya Kesler was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kelsey Hoffmann was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Miller Place and bumps their season record up to 15-2. As for Shoreham-Wading River, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.
