Basketball Game Preview: Rocky River Pirates vs. Lakewood Rangers

The Rocky River Pirates will challenge the Lakewood Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rocky River is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Rocky River strolled past Bay with points to spare, taking the game 39-25. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Rockets are ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lakewood was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 46-41 to Normandy. While the Rangers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Invaders 10-5 in the first quarter.

Rocky River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Rocky River was able to grind out a solid win over Lakewood when the teams last played back in January, winning 45-33. Does Rocky River have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
