Softball Game Preview: Harleton Wildcats vs. Beckville Bearcats

For the second straight game, Harleton will face off against Beckville. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harleton has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harleton fell victim to Beckville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Bearcats. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Bearcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For Beckville's part, Hannah Rogers made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Rogers has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Beckville got a massive performance out of Carli Tuttle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Tuttle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Grandgeorge, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Beckville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in six consecutive games.

Beckville's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Harleton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
