Basketball Game Preview: Eaton Eagles vs. Tri-County North Panthers

Eaton is 5-0 against Tri-County North since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 10:45 a.m. Eaton is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Eaton is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Waynesville on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Eaton had to suffer through a 77-39 loss at the hands of Waynesville. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while the Spartans are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tri-County North). They blew past Bradford 64-39 on Saturday. With the Panthers ahead 32-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Eaton better focus on containing Leinani Garcia and Bella Cherry as the pair were huge in Tri-County North's win. Garcia went 13 of 25 on her way to 29 points along with seven assists and seven boards, while Cherry went 9 of 15 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. With that strong performance, Cherry is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Jackson, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Tri-County North was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Eaton's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Tri-County North, they moved to 2-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Eaton took their win against Tri-County North in their previous matchup back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 56-35. Will Eaton repeat their success, or does Tri-County North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
