Virginia Episcopal School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Covenant Gryphons. The Bishops were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gryphons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Kaloyan Kolev and Marquez Barrera certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Kolev dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Barrera went 5-for-11 to rack up 17 points. Zion Martin was another key player, putting up nine points.

New Covenant's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Cordes, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 18 points. The dominant performance gave Cordes a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lucas Gorman, who posted 21 points.

Virginia Episcopal School's defeat dropped their record down to 9-19. As for New Covenant, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-8.
