Basketball Recap: Northwestern Takes a Loss

If Northwestern was riding high fresh off their 64-43 takedown of Keytesville last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northwestern Eagles were beaten by the Meadville Eagles 55-23 on Friday. The game marked Northwestern's lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Kinlee Fletcher continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Meadville, putting up ten points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fletcher a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Alexis Shiflett, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points.

Northwestern's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3. As for Meadville, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Norborne at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. Meadville also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Tina-Avalon at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
