Sultana and Apple Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Sultans will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Sun Devils at 3:15 p.m. Sultana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Sultana took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Hesperia by a score of 11-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sultans considering their one-run performance the game before.
Ethyn Doyle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off only one hit. Doyle was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Sultana got a massive performance out of Isac Gamez, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Gamez has posted since back in March of 2025. Elijah Alvarez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Sultana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hesperia only posted an OBP of .387.
Meanwhile, Apple Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Burroughs.
Sultana is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Apple Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
