Baseball Recap: Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Triumphs

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons by a score of 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Dragons back in April, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Brayden Chandler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Tyler Wichmann was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Seth Cowell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's record is now 10-4. As for Adrian/Ellsworth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton will be playing in front of their home fans against Murray County Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Adrian/Ellsworth, they will challenge Dawson-Boyd at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
