Baseball Game Preview: Dawson School Mustangs vs. Denver Academy Mustangs

Dawson School has gone a perfect 7-0 against Denver Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Dawson School is taking a road trip to take on Denver Academy at 4:00 p.m. Dawson School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Dawson School will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Arvada on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Mustangs have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Micah Thorstad, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Sutton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Dawson School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Denver Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 22-0 to Front Range Christian.

The win got Dawson School back to even at 7-7. As for Denver Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything went Dawson School's way against Denver Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Dawson School made off with a 21-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dawson School since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
