South Choctaw Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over the Snook Christian Academy Eagles. The win was nothing new for the Rebels as they're now sitting on five straight dating back to last season.
Mizzie Jenkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in February of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Payton Williamson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Mary Clara Floyd was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
South Choctaw Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snook Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .444.
Snook Christian Academy is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
South Choctaw Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Snook Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 21st. As for Snook Christian Academy, they will take on Patrician Academy in a tournament on Saturday.
