Softball Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

Tri-Valley hit Clinton with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Maroons took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The loss continues a trend for the Maroons in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost eight in a row.

Riley Fentress was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Hadley Humble was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Tri-Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will challenge Central A & M at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Tri-Valley, they will host Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
