Softball Recap: Dunnellon Gets the Win

After losing to Umatilla the last time they met, Dunnellon decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Makayla Duncan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dunnellon's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Paola Velazquez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Aden Permar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Dunnellon's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Umatilla, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

As of now, neither Dunnellon nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
