Softball Recap: Eldred Has No Trouble Against O'neill

Eldred's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the O'Neill Raiders 20-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Yellowjackets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Sydney Furler was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Gonzalez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eldred kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.

Eldred's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for O'Neill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Eldred and O'Neill will both be playing Chapel Field Christian the next time they take the field. The Yellowjackets will host the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Raiders will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
