Basketball Recap: Hayden Comes Up Short

Hayden lost against Baboquivari back in November of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hayden Lobos came up short against the Baboquivari Warriors, falling 50-25.

Despite the loss, Hayden still got an impressive performance from Trinity Collier, who posted six points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Collier has posted since back in January of 2024. Ariana Arbizo was another key player, putting up six points.

Baboquivari had a senior duo take command as Kara Baptisto had 19 points in addition to six steals and five assists and Meilia Johnson dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Baptisto has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sulamae Castro, who scored six points and five steals.

Hayden has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Baboquivari, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Hayden has already played their next contest, a 33-12 loss against Duncan on the 28th. As for Baboquivari, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-29 victory against Valley Lutheran on the 28th.
