Baseball Recap: Bellefonte Finds Home Field Redemption Against St. Marys

There's no place like home for Bellefonte, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They never let the St. Marys Flying Dutch get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Peyton Vancas and Zach Lehman made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Vancas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lehman didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Vancas also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bellefonte is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. At the plate, Vancas scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Lehman scored a run while going 2-for-3. Vancas also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Parker Capparelle was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Oliver Thornburg, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Bellefonte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Marys only managed four hits.

The victory snapped Bellefonte's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for St. Marys, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Bellefonte wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Greater Johnstown on the 11th. As for St. Marys, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-6 victory against Clarion-Limestone on the 11th.
