Basketball Recap: Jackson Burnham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laguna Hills over Varsity Opponent

Laguna Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-54 heartbreaker at the hands of Varsity Opponent. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Varsity Opponent earlier this season, when they won 63-39.

Laguna Hills lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jackson Burnham, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. Burnham's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myles Mittelsteadt, who posted 14 points and five assists.

Laguna Hills now has a losing record at 8-9.

Laguna Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-50 defeat against Tesoro on the 28th. As for Varsity Opponent, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-60 victory against Becker on the 27th.
