Newport Harbor had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Torrey Pines Falcons 3-0 on Tuesday. The Sailors not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 3-0).

Newport Harbor never let Torrey Pines on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-23, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Torrey Pines saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Griffin Dieter had 23 digs and two assists. Dieter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Newport Harbor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-11 record this season. As for Torrey Pines, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 33-9.

Looking ahead, Newport Harbor is taking a road trip to take on Mira Costa at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Sailors surely won't give up without a fight. Torrey Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
