Softball Recap: Crescent Valley Wins Going Away Against Mckay

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central, Crescent Valley was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the McKay Royal Scots with a sharp 14-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Royal Scots: they've now won five in a row.

Saylor Zimmerman looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Crescent Valley let Abby Kessler and Desi Campbell run wild. Kessler went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Campbell got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave Campbell a new career-high. Miri Miller was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Crescent Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for McKay, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crescent Valley will head out to challenge Corvallis at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for McKay, they will head out on the road to face off against South Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Saxons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.56 runs per game on average), something the Royal Scots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
