Basketball Recap: Bryson Hobbs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rosewood over Spring Creek

Rosewood was the 65-44 winner over Spring Creek when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Rosewood Eagles took a hard 66-48 fall against the Spring Creek Gators on Friday.

Rosewood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryson Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Hobbs is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Tielen Mccrae was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Rosewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Nathan Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds for Spring Creek. Those 11 boards gave Jackson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Chambers, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Rosewood now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Spring Creek, their record now sits at 3-6.

Rosewood will face off against East Duplin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spring Creek, they will square off against North Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully North Johnston likes a good challenge.
