Basketball Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

Valor Preparatory Academy was the 72-67 winner over Queen's Grant when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls were dealt an 88-37 defeat at the hands of the Queen's Grant Stallions on Tuesday. The Owls were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-22.

Queen's Grant got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Smith has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cannon DeBerry, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Valor Preparatory Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Queen's Grant, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valor Preparatory Academy will host Union Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Queen's Grant, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jackson Day at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Queen's Grant is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season.
